Purpose / Objectives 1. To develop efficient techniques for the establishment of cell suspension and protoplast culture of indica rices.
2. To transfer the gene of interest, initially into japonica and eventually into indica rices using different methods of delivery.
3. To analyze the F1s of presumptive transformants for gene expression.
Biosafety measures 1. The regenerated plants will be grown in the phytotron or containment facility.
2. Vegetative materials will be incinerated and the seeds will be kept in sealed cans for storage.
