Purpose / Objectives To determine the efficacy of transgenic Bt corn hybrids containing the cry1F gene against O. furnacalis, Spodoptera spp., and Helicoverpa armigera under greenhouse conditions.
Biosafety measures 1. All experimental materials, including plants/ plant parts, seeds, and growing medium will be boiled and/ or incinerated at the termination of the experiment.
2. The screen house where the materials were grown will be decontaminated.
Conditions for Approval Subject to compliance with all biosafety measures- detasseling, proper disposal of experimental plants and decontamination of the screen house after use and the modifications as follows:
a) provide water barrier around the screen house to prevent entry of rodents and crawling insects;
b) provide door locks at all times;
c) restrict entry to authorized personnel only.
