|Purpose / Objectives||To create new Cry proteins with improved insecticidal activity to diamondback moth Plutella xylostella.|
|Biosafety measures||1. Imported and locally transformed E. coli harboring cloned cry genes will be stored in glycerol at –80° C
2. All aseptic work will be done in a laminar flow hood.
3. Growing of recombinant E.coli cells will be done in enclosed shakers with properly regulated speed and temperature.
4. All glasswares and solid and liquid wastes coming from the production of Cry proteins will be sterilized at 121° C for 20 mins. In an autoclave.
|Conditions for Approval||No viable resistant insect (particularly Plutella xylostella) will be brought to Los Baños or to any other areas where resistance does not exist and compliance with all biosafety measures indicated in the proposal.|
