Reference Number 20060206
Project Title Development of Recombinant Vaccines Against Influenza
Project Type Contained Use
Status Completed
Name of Institution The Marine science Institute (UPMSI)
Cooperating Institution UPNIMBB
Supervising IBC UPD-IBC
Project Leader(s) Eduardo A. Padlan, Ph.D.; Gisela P. Concepcion, Ph.D.
Experimental Facility/Site Foreign Laboratory at the UP, UPMSI (Marine Natural Products Laboratory) and UPNIMBB (Medical Biotechnology and Genome Research Laboratory
Purpose / Objectives To produce milligram quantities of recombinant vaccine protein against the influenza viruses currently circulating in the Philippines
1. To convert the candidate vaccine amino acid sequence to its polynucleotides sequence
2. To synthesize the polynucleotide
3. To introduce the polynucleotide into a vector
4. To introduce the vector into an expression system
5. To propagate the expression system
6. To harvest the secreted vaccine protein
7. To isolate and purify the vaccine protein
8. To characterize the vaccine protein biochemically
9. To test the biding properties of the vaccine in vitro
