Purpose / Objectives 1. To use the pANDA vector to generate ~50 RNA interference (RNAi) lines for each selected cell cycle-related gene
2. To characterize the lines for alterations in cell cycle and reproduction in anthers and ovule.
Biosafety measures 1. Transgenic plants (generation T0-T2) will be kept in the CL4 transgenic greenhouse, where a security system prevents access of unauthorized personnel.
2. The plant materials, pots and soil for disposal from CL4 will be placed in sealed plastic bags and autoclaved at high temperature and high pressure.
3. Transgenic seeds harvested from CL4 will be kept in hermetically sealed aluminum foil packages and stored in locked refrigerators designated for storage of transgenic seeds in TCGE Laboratory of IRRI. Movement of all materials will be done in compliance of all relevant biosafety and phytosanitary requirements of the Philippines.
