Project Information

Reference Number 19930023
Project Title Evaluation of Transgenic Rice Plants with Escherichia coli Gene Encoding ADP Glucose pyrophosphorylase, a Key Enzyme in the Regulation of Starch Biosynthesis
Project Type Contained Use (Laboratory)
Status N/A
Name of Institution International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Los Baños, Laguna
Cooperating Institution Washington State University
Supervising IBC IRRI-IBC
Project Leader(s) Paul S. Teng, Plant Pathologist
Experimental Facility/Site IRRI, Los Baños
Purpose / Objectives Evaluation of transgenic seeds
Biosafety measures 1. Plants will be kept in the RRI Phytotron.

2. At the flowering stage, every panicle will be bagged to prevent cross- pollination or escape of pollen.

3. Plants used in the experiments will be destroyed by incineration after use.

4. The seeds will be kept in plastic bags inside a sealed metal container and stored in a refrigerator in the Plant Molecular Biology laboratory.
Conditions for Approval All plant tissues and soil used in the experiment shall be autoclaved and incinerated.
