Project Type Contained Use (Laboratory)
Status N/A
Name of Institution National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (BIOTECH),University of the Philippines Los Banos, College, Laguna,049-536-2721; 536-2724

Experimental Facility/Site Philippines (BIOTECH-UPLB)
Purpose / Objectives 1. To survey, collect, isolate and identify ectomycorrhizal fungi associated with eucalyptus, pines, and dipterocarps.
2.To assess the compatibility (degree of root colonization) of a wider range of ectomycorrhizal fungi associated with eucalyptus on dipterocarps and vice versa.
3. To maximize root colonization through modification of cultural practices particularly rates of N and P fertilizers, dosages of fungicides and potting media.
4. To assess growth promoting abilities of ectomycorrhizal fungi associated with eucalyptus and dipterocarps in the nursery and in the field.
5. To screen heavy metal tolerant ectomycorrhizal fungi.
6. To mass produce promising ectomycorrhizal fungi in a cheap and practical manner.
