|Purpose / Objectives||To evaluate the use of phosphomannose isomerase gene as an alternative selection method in rice transformation|
|Biosafety measures||a. The tested plants will be kept in isolation in the CL4 transgenic greenhouse to prevent access of unauthorized personnel.
b. Panicles of flowering plants will be bagged to prevent release of pollen.
c. The plant materials for disposal will be placed in sealed plastic bags.
d. The plants will be destroyed and the pots and soil will be autoclaved at high temperature and high pressure.
e. Transgenic seeds will be kept in hermetically sealed aluminum foil packages, inside a sealed metal container and stored in locked refrigerators designated for storage of transgenic seeds in Tissue Culture Laboratory of IRRI.
